Interesting kind of game... we play scenario only, but we train a lot with tactics. I will read more about this kind of game.

Best regards from Argentina.

Do you guys plan to expand to Florida? I hope you do. TTPL is something I've been wanting for! Im tired of that whole speedball thing. You have open up shop in Florida. If you are plaining to do so do you know how long it will take to expand? Please be soon.

Florida would be a nice stop for us to hold TTPL. If we get it in the plans, it won't be till 2008.  ;D

has it been decided yet if the .43 cal rap4 can be used?

Yes we have decided you may use it  ;D

What FPS are you going to allow them to shoot at?

OK to begin with I must say this has been a long time in coming and agree with alot of what others have said in that they can't wait ...

Just registered here and been reading thru as many posts as I can saturate my poor brain with LoL...

Now onto the real question at hand....

With most fields being regulated at under 300fps , the question which comes to my mind is that for a .43 paintball to be as powerful as a .68 ( meaning to hit with the same force/joules/energy/impact ) it would need to be travelling at 600fps , ie :

.40 and .43 cal paint is much lighter and hence less dangerous, the mathmatics behind this follows :

Power (joules) = [velocity (m/s) square * mass(kg)/2

so a .43 ball wieghs approx. .8grams so ....
.43 at 250fps : (76.20*76.20*.0008)  /2  =  2.32 joules
.43 at 300fps : (91.44*91.44*.0008)  /2  =  3.34 joules
.43 at 350fps : (106.68*106.68*.0008)/2 =  4.55 joules
.43 at 400fps : (121.92*121.92*.0008)/2 =  5.94 joules
.43 at 450fps : (137.16*137.16*.0008)/2 =  7.52 joules

A .68 ball wieghs approx. 3.2 Grams so ...
.68 at 300 fps : (91.44*91.44*.0032)/2 = 13.37 joules

Meaning that for a .43 ball should be allowed on fields at speeds I belive to be safe of 550fps

The reason I went into this so far is that I own several .43 guns now and have been eagerly anticipating the day when this tpye of game was a reality.

I did not write the above algorythm I simply have researched ALOT on this topic and began purchasing my markers even fearing they would not be allowed to operate at the fps that I think they should be allowed to, I have shown the math to several local fields and at least one is considering it, however , I think it will take much more then math to bring thier insurance companies into allowing them to allow us at higher FPS which for this type of game would be a real plus , having a more realistic combat scenerio such as REAL snipers , longer straighter shots ect.

My apologies for rambling . Have a great one all,

I appreciate it HitMan,

It would seem your the head honcho and I must commend you on your efforts on both this site and of the very idea of where it looks to be going.

Now a quick couple of questions just to get your opinion on a couple things,

The use of magazine fed markers only , what do you think of that ?

And secondly , have you looked into the SAFE FPS ratings of .40 and .43 cal paintballs ? And if so have you seen fields which allow more then 300FPS ? as most will not due to insurance reasons I'm guessing.

And finally , would you agree that allowing .43 cal to travel at 550FPS is reasonable ?

Appreciate your input on this,

Oh and thanks for overlooking my ramblings, LoL

Have a great one,

Let's Try This

I appreciate it HitMan,

Thank you for your kind words.

Now a quick couple of questions just to get your opinion on a couple things,

The use of magazine fed markers only , what do you think of that ? Great idea, but not many players have them. If we want the league to grow then we need to give them a better chance of doing so, rather then looking to pass them off with equipment they may not have, allowing to use what they have. At the tryout games in April we had both. It's already hard enough we are doing the "JERSEY RULE", so we can't keep asking players to fully change there style and equipment all in one day.

And secondly , have you looked into the SAFE FPS ratings of .40 and .43 cal paintballs ? And if so have you seen fields which allow more then 300FPS ? as most will not due to insurance reasons I'm guessing. NO field I have seen will allow it. I've been around and played in many fields. Haven't seen it yet.

And finally , would you agree that allowing .43 cal to travel at 550FPS is reasonable ? No I won't agree. I've tested markers and mask at close range since this style of play is a lot of CQB and you will see masks crack at that rate. Under 300FPS for .43cal is fine, but not for .68cal On the TTPL Trial Games we have it at 250FPS its a lot safer. Also time you may see a .43cal paintball not break. If so it turns into a bullet or pellet.

Appreciate your input on this,
Hope this helped you out.  ;D

Oh and thanks for overlooking my ramblings, LoL

Have a great one,

~Ivan~

Alright,
I am about to become the field manager for a PB field in Northern Ohio, Eaton Township to be exact.  One of my objectives is to get stuff going at the woods, scenario areas of the field. We have a lot of undeveloped area to fill. This type of play is exactly what I wold like to do. Who do I need to get in contact with to discuss the prospect of adding  TTPL play to out facility?

TIA
