one idea for snipers would be to require them to use pump markers and any shot a player receives from a sniper (they could use a unique color paint) can not be healed. That is assuming that there will be medics and healing in the games. or you can not count hand a foot shots  (or from the knees down and elbows down for example) as an elimination unless it was a sniper that hit the player.

just some ideas. I like the idea of each specialty or class having thier own unique abilities and limitations.

maybe there should be a thread on each specialty where everyone can brainstorm ideas for abilities and limitations.

I think the idea of being shot in the arm and still be able to play is a good idea. If you were shot in real life in the arm you would still be able to go on it would hurt but you wouldnt be out of it. Just a thought since you guys are trying to make it as real as possible. I think snipers should be able to use whatever gun they want cuz again in real life snipers use high powered rifles, some are bolt action and some are semi auto it depends on the snipers style so the snipers should have there choice in teh game..just my thoughts and they probably dont mean to much.

Yes we will be going with that idea of if a player is shot in the arm he/she will still be in play. But will still need a heal banner from the medic. That banner will make the hit arm or leg. If hit in the leg that player must go down. No walking or running for him/her. Yes you can crawl.  ;D Hows that for you?

More ideas for arm, leg, and other shots... Leg shots mean you must stay down but can use your arms to pull yourself to cover or have a buddy do it for you(yaaaaaaaa! we finely get to use vest drag handels in paintball!) Arm shots mean you must not use that arm for shooting, climbing, or anything else pyhsicaly demanding; reloading or other mild activities ok. Body shots compleatly imobilize but can be healed by medics(as well as the arm and leg hits). Head shots...your just done, although maybe just put head shots with body for safty reasons, cause I for one will definatly be a melon popper if we have that rule and Im sure I wont be the only one. Also we should have some kind of method for silent kills. It doesent happen often but when you can sneak up on someone and kill silently without nearby opfor knowing it can give a huge advantage, depending on the situation, or at least just be something really awsome to pull off. Also, medics should not be able to heal them.

This is Hot! I like this! Maybe we can allow the rubber knife paintball that they have,  ;) I've used them in other scenario games. And let me tell you when I say the looks you get from others when they are taken out..lol...But a dead silent kill must lie down and not move....just like real life? What do you think of that? Use the body for corver if needed lol... :o

sounds cool.....

as for the wound factors...back in the late eighties, we had this system that work pretty good....

each player had 3 points of health

a hit location took a certain amount of points....

head = 3 points ( player dead )
torso = 2 points ( severly wounded, but still in the game )
limbs = 1 point ( minor wound )

and any combo that totalled to 3 points...so that way you don't just stick your gun around the corner and blast away, after 3 hits to your arm you are dead.....or leg or what ever....this way a ref can just count the hits and add them up real fast....

it worked great for us back then.....

and to make it more realistic do as Godfathers Ghost said with the movement restrictions.....

Yes I agree too with that idea, Snipers should shot at moving targets so there you have it. They will.  :)

The knife idea sounds really cool and the snipers shooting at moving targets..when the game starts it should be fun.

I hope this doesn't come across as though I am painting myself as a badass or anything, but with the knife idea in place...things could get out of hand easily.  If I were at the last minute to spot someone trying to knife me, instinctively I may react very aggressive, and then later feel real bad about hurting someone.  This knife idea could come down to hand-to-hand combat…maybe I am misunderstanding the concept, but if someone gets in real close with a knife or even their marker, I could react without thinking.  As others I am sure could relate, it’s been drilled into our heads from training…it just happens without any real thought.

Ghostman has a good point, so maybe just a simple motion or verble command witnessed by a ref, not as exciting but I know what he means about reacting without thought, just reflex.

well at most places i have played if you come up with 5-10 feet behind someone and yell surrender and the person agrees they are out. But if they turn around with there gun pointed the person who came up on them is free to fire at will. This could be put into affect for the game if people are worried about what ghostman said which is a very good point. I might react the same way. I do like the surrender rule but there are people that refuse to surrender and i have made them pay horribly for it. Just another alternative, let me know if its a good idea.

Although I worry about the physical contact escalating to hand-to-hand combat, I do really like the idea of taking someone out without shouting or shooting someone, which basically alerts everyone where you are.

Making a close-to-real silent kill as possible has some interesting aspects—basically you get to continue killing more unnoticed.  However, the opposite sucks; for instance, if you sneak around your opponents’ front and get directly behind them, your first shot is going to give you away, which kind of sucks.

So how do we get around avoiding physical contact, but still have a silent kill.  Personally, if I was tapped on the foot or shoulder by an opponent that I did not know was there, I would just honorably give him or her the benefit of the doubt and fall silently dead for them.  How I see this different than the knife idea proposed (which sounds fun, but I think could get out of hand) is that I would not (I think) react so aggressively.  I am just out, no challenge to it…the person doesn’t/wouldn’t have to even tap me for a kill, just as long as they were three feet behind me without me knowing.

I see this idea going somewhere. Which is very good. All we need to do is fine the best way to play it, and we will. Before the opening games many teams are going to come down and due trail run games. For the reason we want to kick out as many little factors as we can before game day. Have solution for everything and try to run a smooth game for all. If any of you would like to come down for trail runs that would be fine with me. I will keep you all posted.  :)
