HOW LONG SHOULD THE LEAGUE BE?

HOW MANY GAMES WOULD YOU THE PLAYERS LIKE TO SEE IN THIS LEAGUE? MEANING: RUN IT FOR A FEW MONTHS WITH A FINAL TOURNEY AT THE END or A ONE WEEK-END TOURNEY?

1. I WAS THINKING A THREE MONTH LEAGUE WITH 2 GAMES A MONTH, ONE WEEK AFTER THE OTHER. BI-WEEKLY.

OR

2. ONE LARGE WEEK-END TOURNEY. ROUND ROBIN STYLE?

I like the idea of the three months, i think it will give everybody a chance to really get into this new tactical game.

one long weekend would be cool. Or even 2 long weekends. One after another.

If it went too long, it would mess up scheduals with practices and other scenarios.

As of right now all the games are scheduled in Jersey correct? Because if it is then a 2 day long weekend would be better at this point. Because theres not going to be to many teams are going to be wanting to comute to New Jersey twice a month.

I can give you a couple of links to some fields in this area that might be open to the idea of hosting some of this games for the midwest region. Not saying that will be, just that they might be.

Sure if you got some info, thats great please post. Also a 2 day or 3 day weekend is looking good. We will wait still a bit longer and see what others would like to see. WHAT EVER IS BEST FOR ALL I think is the smart way to go. So I ask all to post in the poll, thank you.

What you could do if you got other fields to join up in different regions so the teams wouldnt have to commute to jersey. So lets say we had 4 fields. All 4 fields could host a long weekend round-robin tourney and then the winners of those fields would come to the home field. How you could decide who plays who would be total points. If for some reason there was a tie for total points then go by total time to complete the objectives. so if it took one team to complete everything in 1 hour and another team 58 minutes, then that team would be a seed higher. But i dont know, it's just an idea. See you guys later.

TRUE! This is what we have plan for future games. We already have other fields that would like to help and hold these events. What we are looking at right now is, what is the best way to start it off. So that the basic game idea is known to all before reaching out to other fields and states.

I think I'm leaning towards the 3 month league.  I've grown up playing all kinds of sports, therefore, I am highly used to and accustomed to actual "season" type leagues, which run over a couple month span, this is also the best way to prove who really is the best if that's the objective.  Although I'd prefer it to be a longer season, I wouldn't be against it just being a weekend tournie if it needed to be.

I also agree with Greg, in the future if you can set up a field in every major paintball market that wants to compete then you could eliminate travel hassels and have those leagues compete for a top seed.  When that's over the champions from each region will compete in NJ, where the homefield is, and then there could be 1 champion team named.

I think the shorter the better at least to start off. What happens is after a while is schedules start to conflict with other games and everydaylife. Then the smaller teams have a hard time putting a full squad on the field and its not competitive.     I think 2 long weekends a month apart. Maybe some practices in March for whoever wants to attend. A full weekend in April with some more practices after , again optional, and then a final full weekend in May.  What would also be cool if some members from the eliminated teams came back for the second weekend to play as an opsfor against remaining teams. An insurgency of some sort.  Just an idea

Nice formating here... this has some awesome potential, how 'bout some national divisions so others in the nation could join the ruckous.

Leagues by their nature imply to me an extended time of play so three months would be good, there isnt any reason why you couldnt have a weekend of play every month for 3 months to determine an overall winner - so a combination of formats might be ideal. Longer play time also will highlight a teams skill and determination vs just having an lucky weekend.

A teams roster should be able to be large enough to cover the issues of individuals real life issues. I would enjoy being in and at every single event but that doesnt make it logistically plausable.

Id have to say one long weekend. if its 3 months long people might not be able to make everyone they need to and it would mess up. but whatever u guys thinks fine with me

I think as a league this should last longer than a weekend. I know its better for me its a single day once or twice a month for three or four months than a two or three day weekend. But thats just me. If its going to be an annual tournament than the long wekend format fits. If its going to be a league it needs to stretch out a little longer. In the future as this spreads maybe there will be qualifing tourneys in several states with a long weekend for the finals in NJ, but for the first year if we are keeping this to one field I think we should spread it over a couple of months. Just my .02

Most, if not all, teams who may end up getting involved with this attend various scenario events. My guess that it'll be a pretty big stretch on them to have to commit to this league and attend scenarios. I suggest holding a one-day tourney once a month. The winning team (or top two or three) from each day qualify for the finals at the end of the season.
