Oklahoma D-Day 08
« on: Jul 14, 2007, 07:26:52 AM »
I can hear you now, hey didn't they just hold this event last month.  If that's what you're thinking, you'd be right on.  What I'm hoping now
is that those of you who came, sign up again and those of you who didn't do so sooner rather than later.

D-Day is by far and away the most complex MIL-SIM event you'll ever get to take part in.  I can say that now, having had the pleasure of helping to organize and run the TOC for the Allied Command, which numbered some 2,200 strong this year.  That's right, I said 2,200.

We call it a MIL-SIM event because well before the event begins both sides already know where they stand points wise.  There's no second guessing what needs to be taken or held, because that's all been laid out well in advance.  We either do what needs to be done, or we don't get the points.  No fairy dust, secret spies, or super heroes to spoil the fun, just cold hard basic tactics and logistics.  Yes, you heard right, tactics and logistics.  Imagine your unit is pinned down and you're running low on everything, including active shooters.  A call to the TOC and before you know it there's a friendly unit moving up on your flank to help out and they've brought along a tank or two just to make sure you'll make it to that next objective.  That's how we ran it this year and that was just for starters.  Add a professionally taught (Christopher E. Larsen - 'Light Infantry Tactics for Small Teams') day long course, plus as much time with 'been there and done it types,' NOT want-a-bes than you'll find anywhere else and you're going to wonder why you haven' joined up sooner.  Need a change of pace, try out for a role as a Sniper, or perhaps challenge yourself and the German tanks by joining the 899th Blackcats.  If humping through the woods is your thing, we've got 700 acres plus 2 Airborne Divisions, the Rangers, Free French and the Commonwealth's forces.
If this sounds like a recruitment drive, well it is, but just remember I'm NOT a paid member of their staff.  What I get out of this, is seeing to it that people like you find what you've been searching for.  What you've joined this group in the hopes of finding.  It's as simple as that!

Want more details, feel free to drop me a note or go onto the main website and click on the forum.  I assure you, it'll be time well spent,
either way you go.

  Thanks for the soapbox.

Sincerely,

Brigadier General Andy Van Der Plaats

Welcome back to the latest news from the Allied Command Headquaters.

Following the close of the winter staff meeting it was announced that
this year's SUTAL (Small Unit Tactics And Leadership) Course would be opend to players from either side.  In addition the course would now also be expanded from just one day to three.  Other changes include the introduction for the first time anywhere of the use of MILEs 2000 equipped 'real steel' blank firing M16s, AK-47s and RPK (LMG) instead of paintball guns for this course.  That's right everyone 15 years of age or older will be issued one of these weapons during this course.
The course will be divided into three components, Basic Skills, Squad Tactics and Company Tactics.  Starting on day 1, Wednesday June 11th, players will have the option of signing up for that days three sessions of 'Basic Tactics,' on day 2, Thursday June 12th, they'll have three opportunities to take the 'Squad Tactics Course' and on day 3, Friday, June 13th they'll have three options to sign up for the 'Company Tactics' portion of this training program.

Cost to attend each of these three courses, including use of a 'real steel,' MILEs equipped weapon, plus all necessary blanks and course materials is $50.00.

To sign up for one or all three of these courses go to the 1 Shepherd website www.1shepherd.com

For more information of this course, or any of the other Allied Command training sessions which are being offered please either reply to me via e-mail or better still give my office a call and don't forget that your ability to select which unit you'd like to joiin for this event ends on April 1st.  After that you'll only be able to select the side you'll be on and even that option will come to a close some time around May 1st, so don't be left being told where you fight, sign up today!

Sincerely,
