I can hear you now, hey didn't they just hold this event last month. If that's what you're thinking, you'd be right on. What I'm hoping now
is that those of you who came, sign up again and those of you who didn't do so sooner rather than later.
D-Day is by far and away the most complex MIL-SIM event you'll ever get to take part in. I can say that now, having had the pleasure of helping to organize and run the TOC for the Allied Command, which numbered some 2,200 strong this year. That's right, I said 2,200.
We call it a MIL-SIM event because well before the event begins both sides already know where they stand points wise. There's no second guessing what needs to be taken or held, because that's all been laid out well in advance. We either do what needs to be done, or we don't get the points. No fairy dust, secret spies, or super heroes to spoil the fun, just cold hard basic tactics and logistics. Yes, you heard right, tactics and logistics. Imagine your unit is pinned down and you're running low on everything, including active shooters. A call to the TOC and before you know it there's a friendly unit moving up on your flank to help out and they've brought along a tank or two just to make sure you'll make it to that next objective. That's how we ran it this year and that was just for starters. Add a professionally taught (Christopher E. Larsen - 'Light Infantry Tactics for Small Teams') day long course, plus as much time with 'been there and done it types,' NOT want-a-bes than you'll find anywhere else and you're going to wonder why you haven' joined up sooner. Need a change of pace, try out for a role as a Sniper, or perhaps challenge yourself and the German tanks by joining the 899th Blackcats. If humping through the woods is your thing, we've got 700 acres plus 2 Airborne Divisions, the Rangers, Free French and the Commonwealth's forces.
If this sounds like a recruitment drive, well it is, but just remember I'm NOT a paid member of their staff. What I get out of this, is seeing to it that people like you find what you've been searching for. What you've joined this group in the hopes of finding. It's as simple as that!
Want more details, feel free to drop me a note or go onto the main website and click on the forum. I assure you, it'll be time well spent,
either way you go.
Thanks for the soapbox.
Sincerely,
