Sight's and Scopes
« on: Feb 19, 2007, 05:39:47 PM »
I am new to this type of play and was wondering  what type of sight or scope would be best for a sniper or a stock T68 Gen 5.

A Red dot scope is probably the best device. When you can "tune" it in to match what you see versus what you hit it can help a little bit.
Outlined against a blue-gray October sky the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death.

I agree with you on this one snake.... do you know how many boneheads i've seen with super large madnified sniper style scopes that they shell out big bucks for?  And they complain when they never see their paintballs in their crosshairs..... paintballs aren't accurate, especially when you magnify a taget beyond their effective range tot he size of a 50 cent piece.... it'll never happen.

A decent sight is a shotgun red dot 1:1 dear sight.  good view port, no magnification, clear and precicse... its like a step up from the old Iron cross!  Gotta love it!

Personally, I like a scope with low adjustable magnification. You will have a pretty hard time getting a paintball right in the crosshair, but it is definetly useful for scouting and such.

true, it is good for scouting, and it does limit the need for a seperate monocular... thanks for pointing that out...

I got a Tasco red dot from Wal-Mart for about $60. They're not cheap, but they're not all that expensive either. However, it really cuts back on the time you spend aiming, and it looks awesome.

Agreed , but do keep the magnification low ( no more then 3x I would say ) . Mine is 2.5 and perhaps a Bit much but it was just laying around doing nothing anyway and looks good on my custom T68 ( check sig for a pic of it ) , Now the NV Scope is a definate GO when it comes to night games , altho as mentioned a scope on a PB marker is not an exact science but as you get more time on it you know where to place your cross hairs for this range or that and it begins to become second nature.

Have a great one all,

I have to agree with pretty much everyone else on the topic of optics on paintball guns. Low Magnification and wide field of view. Red dots are nice, gives a clear sight picture and both eyes can be kept open. I have a 20 dollar crossman I grabbed from Canadian Tire, 20 bucks. Its completely open and after a little tweaking gives a very strong red dot on the glass. Sadly the body is somewhat cheap plastic, but its cheap itself. So its not bad.

I am sure an ACOG will work.  It is not how the optic works, but how the player uses it.  That is what I think on all optics and sights.  Me personally I prefer a good set of iron-sights over optics, no batteries needed.

Good point, I'd definitely would choose the MP5 iron sight that is on the BT delta, you know if they have those for the tippmann X7?

Not a clue.  I rely on my '16 sight on a 98.  So how much is that ACOG?  Most I've seen came close to prices on guns that they were attached with.

I found two of em'. One for 130 and the other for 150. pretty high end but worth it.
